BOB SAGET (SPECIAL EVENT)
view calendar
Bob returns to ABC primetime as star of the new comedy series, "Surviving Suburbia" premiering April 6 at 9:30pm/8:30 central time, after "Dancing With the Stars." The series also stars Cynthia Stevenson, Jared Kusnitz, G Hannelius, and Jere Burns. His character loves his family but really wants to be left alone and enjoy a beer every day with his best friend and neighbor, who's a dentist.
Yes, Bob Saget starred on two of the most family-friendly shows network TV has ever produced ("Full House" and "Americas Funniest Home Videos"), but he's also an out of his mind, standup comedian for over thirty years. As anyone who remembers his scene-stealing cameos in "Half Baked", "Dumb & Dumberer," the Showtime series "Huff," his appearances in "The Aristocrats," or HBO's series "Entourage" will attest, there's something utterly hilarious about seeing Saget embracing his dark side.
In August of 2008, Bob was honored with "The Comedy Central Roast of Bob Saget." Bob's Roast was the second most watched entertainment program in its timeslot second only to the Olympics. It was one of the highest rated shows for all of 2008 on Comedy Central.
From directing MGMs cult favorite feature film "Dirty Work," to directing and producing the highly acclaimed ABC television movie, "For Hope" (based on his sister losing her battle to scleroderma), to starring on Broadway in 2007 in the Tony Award winning, "The Drowsy Chaperone," to performing his decidedly adult brand of comedy, Bob leaves his sold-out audiences welcoming him in a whole new light.
Then there was his hugely successful, one-hour HBO Special, "That Ain't Right, as well as his hit DVD "Farce of the Penguins," an R-rated comedy love story, that he voiced-over, wrote, directed, and produced, with producer David Permut and Thinkfilm. "Farce of the Penguins" is narrated by Samuel L. Jackson, and stars the voices of Christina Applegate, Lewis Black, Tracy Morgan, Mo'Nique, Bob, and fifty of comedy's biggest names.
